Netball with year 5 and year 6 pupils. Both teams played fantastic and we came 2nd and 4th out of 8 teams. All pupils showed great teamwork and passion during the tournament.
Eight year 6 pupils participated in a basketball competition yesterday. The competition was held at Reddish Vale High School and the team showed great team-work and each player played a significant role in coming 2nd place out of 7 teams and reaching the finals event on the 8th of February.
Eight (four boys and four girls) year 6 pupils participated in the rugby finals competition. They qualified to the finals by coming 3rd in a previous rugby tournament. The same pupils attended the finals and had learnt a lot from previous rugby tournament competition, because all 8 pupils played fantastic and reached the final, after 6 games, (winning two, losing one and drawing three). Unfortunately St Josephs lost the final 2-0 in a tight match. 2nd place is a great achievement as St Josephs only had two players who had played rugby out of school time before.
Nine (5 girls and 3 boys) year 5 pupils participated in a netball competition. St Josephs came 4th out of 7. The team showed great team-work and determination. All pupils said they would like to play netball more and will look into joining the schools netball club and netball clubs out of school.
Eight (five boys and three girls) year 6 pupils participated in the basketball finals competition. They qualified to the finals by coming 2nd in a previous basketball tournament four weeks ago. The same pupils attended the finals and played another fantastic tournament and reached the final, after topping the group stages (which meant St Josephs had a place straight into the semi finals), and then going on to win the semi finals. Unfortunately, St Josephs lost the final in a close match. Every player played magnificent and should be proud of their efforts of coming 2nd in the finals tournament.
Six (three boys and three girls) year 1 pupils participated in a dance festival. All pupils had a lot of fun showing of their best dance moves and dancing with pupils from other schools.
Eleven year 5 and 6 pupils participated in a netball event.St Josephs had two teams and came 1st and 2nd in the event. All pupils played amazing and now will be invited into a netball finals event.
